The 2019 BIG Biodiversity Challenge is now CLOSED

 Sign up for 2019 BIG Biodiversity Challenge and join the movement to protect and enhance biodiversity in the built environment.

The Challenge is now closed for entries.  

 

Following judging day for 2019 submissions, the shortlisted entries will be announced in mid July. 

 

The BIG Biodiversity Challenge Award ceremony

The winners will be announced at the #BIGAwards ceremony due to take place in September in London. Details will be announced in due course.

Categories and guidelines:

 

Please refer to the 2019 Award categories page for more information about this year's awards. Please note:

 

  • There are 8 award categories this year and each enhancement can be entered into two categories. 

  • Judges will select an overall winner for the enhancement that demonstrates an outstanding commitment to biodiversity.

  • The awards are free to enter.

  • In order to be eligible for the BIG Biodiversity Challenge 2019, your project must have been completed in the 24 months up to and including 7 June 2019. For eligibility criteria please refer to judging guidelines below. 

  • Download the awards judging guidelines. 

  • For the monitoring, maintenance and management award category (now known as the Biodiversity Legacy Award) the programme should have been in place for at least 12 months up and including 7 June 2019.

  • Download the BIG Biodiversity Champion Awards judging guidelines and nomination form. 

 

Key dates:

  • 17 June 2019   - BIG Biodiversity Challenge 2019 closes for entries. Nominations for the Champion will also close.

  • 9 July 2019 - Awards shortlist announced following Judging days. Voting opens for the  2019 Champion from the shortlist. 

  • 12 September 2019 - BIG Biodiversity Challenge Awards evening
